This place has been really quite, but in the year of our taco 2020, I’m going to start getting more posts up with taco pictures, taco descriptions, maybe taco recipes, any old thing that might come up.
One of the things that I’ve thought about is trying to do some good from this silly thing that started 4 years ago, I just didn’t know how or where to do it. Then I got the idea of doing a sort of taco-a-thon, donating money somewhere with each taco eaten. And I had been familiar with S.A.C.R.E.D. (Saving Agave for Culture, Recreation, Education, and Development) from work my friends at Pipeworks Brewing had done with them. I have grown to love tequila and mezcal, have an agave plant of my own (it’s stayed alive for almost two years now, somehow), and was in awe seeing flowering century plants on a trip to Texas a couple years ago. They’re seriously so cool. So giving to a non-profit that helps preserve agave plants and culture was a perfect fit.
S.A.C.R.E.D. isn’t just working to plant more agave to make more agave spirits, but they’re helping solve problems in water security, providing earthquake relief, helping grow less common varieties of agave, and promoting education by building libraries and supporting farming curriculum in rural Mexico. Check out their website (linked in the previous paragraph) and see what they’re doing. It’s all pretty amazing.
For the 2020 March of Taco March, I’ll be donating $1/taco eaten in the month to S.A.C.R.E.D. Last year, my taco total was 121, which would mean $121 raised. I’m hoping to top that this year, and already off to a great start. Between breakfast, lunch, and dinner, I had 12 tacos on the first day! I’ll get a post about those later. Anyway, whatever total I hit won’t be much, but every little bit helps! So if you feel so inclined, send a few buck their way, either as a straight donation or join me in my quest, and pledge to give a little for each taco! Even a few cents per taco can add up. I’ll make it count, and get the total high.
If you’re interested in joining my taco-a-thon, leave a comment, send me a message on social media, or keep track on your own and give whatever you can.
This is going to be the best MARCH OF TACO MARCH ever!!!!
